As 2021 draws to a close and the holiday season has arrived, the housing market in Southern California remains hot despite inflation worries. House prices are holding up and mortgage rates are still at attractive lows, so motivated buyers continue to be out looking for and putting offers on their dream homes in desirable locations like Long Beach, Seal Beach, and Signal Hill.
At this festive time of year, these SoCal communities have plenty of attractions and events for residents to enjoy. Here’s a small sampling of the activities the holiday season has brought to the region.
At the Aquarium of the Pacific, enjoy festive programming in the month of December, with special holiday decorations, a gingerbread house display, photo opportunities, and more through December 23. On weekends from December 4 through 19, they will also host photo opportunities with Santa, appearances by Santa Diver, Hanukkah storytelling and dreidel games.
If you’re looking for that unique gift, stop by the Coronado Avenue Holiday Market on Sunday, December 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This block-wide holiday market will feature local artisans as well as food, live music, and family activities.
Holiday performances in the area include the Long Beach Ballet presenting their celebrated version of the Christmas classic “The Nutcracker” from December 17 through 19, David Benoit’s Christmas Tribute to Charlie Brown at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on December 18, and Long Beach Symphony Holiday Pops concert on December 18.
Families looking for local events should check out the Holiday Spectacular at the Shops at Rossmoor on Saturday, December 11. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. they’ll be celebrating the season with holiday cookie decorating, photos with Santa, face painting, balloon art, train rides, and more.
Later this month, My Ancestors’ Dream, a local nonprofit, will host the Holiday Festival Community Event on Sunday, December 19 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. This free event features games, arts and crafts, free gifts for children under 18 years of age (while supplies last) and more.
In addition to these suggestions, local residents of Long Beach and the surrounding areas can check out holiday light displays, reserve a seat for a Christmas dinner at a local restaurant, or look ahead to the many New Year’s celebrations just around the corner.
